Our Mission
The Blind River Emergency Food Bank, incorporated in 2001 and operated completely by volunteers, assists people coping with food insecurity due to financial difficulty or other issues. The Food Bank serves individuals living in the Town of Blind River, the Township of the North Shore and the Municipality of Huron Shores. The Blind River Food Bank is a non-profit corporation and a member of Feed Ontario, the provincial association of food banks, and Food Banks Canada, the national association of food banks. During the annual general meeting, Food Bank members elect a Board of Directors which meets monthly to conduct the business of the Corporation. The Food Bank and Yard Sale are located at 183 Causley Street in Blind River, Ontario.
Land Acknowledgement
The Board acknowledges that the Blind River Food Bank and Yard Sale are in Robinson-Huron Treaty territory and the traditional land of the Anishnaabeg people. We acknowledge the presence and contributions of the North Channel Metis Council within our community. We say "miigwech" to thank Indigenous people for taking care of this land from time immemorial. We are all called to treat this sacred land, its plants, animals, stories and its peoples with honour and respect. We reaffirm our commitment to fostering respectful relationships and reconciliation as we carry out our charitable work.
